In June I went back to Poland for a week to do some additional photographing. It has been extremely high water in many Polish rivers for more than a month. An area where this was very visible is the Warta Mouth National Park, in the west part of the country close to the border with Germany.
I stayed in Slonsk in a very fine B&B called Dudek, runned by Isabella and Jacek Engel. The first evening I saw a beaver close by, while the sun was setting. Normally these animals are very shy, but this one was swimming quite relaxed and was very cooperative. The picture above was taken at about 15 meters away and the water coloured nicely because of the sunset.
The next picture was made a couple of minutes later and it shows the high water in the National Park. Only some willows were raising above waterlevel and the sunset was very spectacular. _dsc2218
After 2 days spending time here I went back to the Biebrza Marshes in the NE-part of Poland. I was suprised by the number of Hoopoes I saw in this area(Although I'd already seen quite a few of them in the Slonsk area.). I managed to make some more flightpictures of Whitewinged Black Terns and was more satisfied whith these ones, because I found a place where I could approach them more closer.
Most of these birds were already turning their breeding plumage into winterplumage._dsc3025
